1.5.21

Greetings Lynden Families and Staff,

Welcome to 2021.

I wanted to let you know that secondary students will be returning to in-person learning beginning Monday, January 11. The State Department of Health and Whatcom County Health Department issued updated guidance in mid-December which outlined considerations for in-person learning in Tools to Prepare for Provision of In-Person Learning among K-12 Students at Public and Private Schools during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Given the current transmission rates and other indicators in Whatcom County we feel we can implement mitigation strategies such as face coverings, distancing, hand hygiene, cleaning, and smaller cohort sizes to safely engage with our secondary students in person.

We will restart in the same hybrid schedule that was developed earlier this year and implemented for a couple weeks in November.  You will be receiving information from schools about schedules and details for starting in-person on Monday.

Please remember that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and while we know more about this virus today than in the past, our ability to keep kids in schools is dependent on community COVID transmission rates and other indicators identified in the Tools to prepare for provision of in-person learning among K-12 students, practicing good mitigation strategies at school, and  making sure students and staff stay home if they are sick.  Our goal is to sustain in-person learning and avoid having to move back to remote learning.

I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year’s holiday

Sincerely,

Jim

Saludos Lynden Familias y Personal,

Sinceramente

Jim
